Volunteer Opportunities

Join Our Team of Volunteers

Volunteering with Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs is a rewarding way to make a real difference for people with disabilities. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization; their hours of dedication reflect their generosity and belief in the power of service dogs to change lives.

Current Volunteering Opportunities

We currently need volunteer puppy raisers in the Kingston and Ottawa areas. Please visit our Puppy Raising page for details.

We are also looking for people with a variety of skills such as IT/website, fundraising, and event planning. Please reach out if you can help. See below for further details.

Volunteer Roles

Fundraising

From planning and organizing fundraising initiatives, donation appeals, and writing grant applications, to selling tickets and helping with bottle drives, volunteers make it possible to raise the funds needed to provide life-changing service dogs to people who need them. The cost to train and place each service dog is $20,000 - $25,000. As we received no government funding and these dogs are provided to recipients at no cost, fundraising is a critical component to ensuring our continued operation.

Community Spirit Gaming Centre – Montreal Street

K4Paws is one of the 45 local charities supported through this centre. Volunteers are needed to join our crew to cover 2-hour shifts, held at a variety of times through the year. Training is provided. Recruitment for these positions is done twice each year.

Event Support

We often need volunteers to help set up for events, greet guests, answer questions, take tickets, serve food, clean up, etc. Volunteers are essential for the success of our events and for enhancing the experience for all participants.

Puppy Raising

We are actively looking for new volunteer puppy raisers in Kingston and Ottawa. Please visit our Puppy Raising page for details.

Puppy Sitting

Volunteer puppy sitters provide relief for our puppy raisers. This might be for a few days, a weekend or longer, depending on the situation. Puppy sitters must have experience with dogs. Experience with a puppy raising program is helpful but not necessary. (Note: we are not currently recruiting for new puppy sitters, but sign up for our newsletter to be notified of future opportunities).

IT/Website

In this increasingly complex digital world, it is helpful to have volunteers who are digitally savvy that we can call upon as needed for advice and to help with special projects.

Communications

Do you have experience in strategic communications? Are you a skilled writer or editor? Good at social media? Graphic design? Media relations? Volunteers help us with all these roles.

Administration

Good administrative support makes our work easier! Are you a whiz at Excel or formatting documents? Great at research? We often have projects where a little extra help can make all the difference.
